NY Train Project is a tribute to the historic subway system in New York City. Created, designed and illustrated by Adam Chang.
Hey, Adam Chang is up for a webbie award (link on the front page of this site) for NY Train Project. He put a lot of hours in to document the different subway tile type at different stops around the city. It’s pretty fucking awesome. If you have a minute you should vote for NY Train Project.
Roman Mars kicks ass.
The best thing my graphic design professor ever said was…
“Free yourself from the tyranny of 8.5 x 11″
I designed the interior for Cliver Barker’s new book
and forgot to add my name to the copyright page -_- So i’ll just whine and tell you guys. I did it. The interior design was mine :(
Why do people think it’s okay to not pay artists/designers?
I’m so sick of hearing “we can’t pay you, but it’ll be a great way to get your name out there and you can put it in your portfolio”.
1. It’s not hard to get pieces for your portfolio. If you go to school you already have plenty of pieces in you portfolio. Even if you haven’t gone to school, you can just as easily come up with projects for yourself.
2. IT’S NOT ACCEPTABLE TO NOT PAY ALMOST ANYONE ELSE. For example, you would never say “Can you come over and fix my plumbing? I can’t pay you but you can take photos and i’ll tell other people you did a good job”. No. If someone has a skill that you don’t have, and you want them to do work for you, pay them.
We have rent to pay too.
If you love what you do and are willing to do what it takes, it’s within your reach. And it’ll be worth every minute you spend alone at night, thinking and thinking about what it is you want to design or build. It’ll be worth it, I promise.
I used to follow this kid on tumblr
He was a few years younger than me and sometimes I would message him and have short conversations. I didn’t even realize we lived in the same city until I saw him in my local record shop. But I unfollowed him one day because he posted too much gore, and I don’t think he follows me anymore, and I haven’t seen him in town anywhere. I sometimes wonder if he’s okay. *shrug*
